Patience please! We also want to ask about 2 other small birds. One was seen yesterday by Michael in his village (close to Omodos) which I assumed was a Goldfinch when he told me it was small with yellow on it - these of course are very common here - but today he described it more clearly, definitely not Goldfinch. A small bird slightly larger than a sparrow with a yellow breast, the same bright yellow as an Oriole, but with brown on the wings and possibly a darker head. What might this be?
I also would like to know the name of the very small birds I see frequently darting in and out of the big shrubs and bushes on the edge of the fields. I cannot find anything like them on the Cyprus Wikipedia list. They are almost wren-like in shape and size but are dark grey to black, darker on the upper parts, and have a beautiful lyrical song. They don't rest in plain sight so I can't be more specific. Any thoughts? Really glad for any info, thank you. Andrea.
