Cape Drepanum is a possible area.
There is a nature trail around Argaka from the village (well signposted). http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=4339965
The Pafos foothills could be good and a walk up Troodos, Atalante trail from the village square or the Artemis trail from Olympus mountain. The picnic areas towards Kakopetria can be excellent and appeal to the family if a cooler day is sought and there are plenty of villages offering taverns and food if you don't want to take your own picnic.
