Dear Colleague,

just month ago I came to Cyprus as curator in Pafor Bird park. In my
country Czech republic I work over 20 years in State nature
conservation Agency as zoologist with specialisation on birds of prey
and otter conservation. Ornithology is my big hobby till students age.
I would like to contact some birdwatchers in Cyprus to know more about
local birds hot spot. Because I live in Peyia I visit quite offen
Avakas and I observe there twice 4.11. and 16.11. wallcreepers.
For me is pleasure to be member of group and share experience with
Cyprus nature.
I hope to see you in some oportunity

Kind regard

Aleš

Dear Ales
Welcome to Cyprus.
I just came back from the Cyprus wildlife exhibition at Bellapais Abbey in Kyrenia North Cyprus where I saw some amazing photos of birds of prey by Baris Saydam who is a Turkish Cypriot physiotherapist whose hobby is wildlife photography.
Here in North Cyprus there are some really good people working on conservation = the bird protection society here is called Kuskor and headed by Martin Marancos who is a lecturer at Eastern Mediterranean University in Famagusta.
If you have the chance to visit the Turkish side of the island and have not already met up with these people I would be happy to introduce you.
I am a journalist in North nicosia and you can phone me anytime
best wishes

Dear AleΕ‘

Welcome to Cyprus and well done on finding the Wallcreepers. An excellent start - I have still this treat in store (I hope one day to see this elusive bird). BirdLife Cyprus is keen to help people with their bird watching and their web site is http://www.birdlifecyprus.org/

Field meetings and social events are organised for both members and non-members, who we actively encourage to join to further our campaigns. Details are on the web site and we'd love to meet you at any of these events.

I live in the Akrotiri area and if you are over this way please contact me in advance and perhaps we and a few other local bird watchers could meet up for a couple of hours.

Enjoy your birding

All the best

June Neal
