Please join Cyphertown Productions Saturday, January 31st for our first party at the Shattuck Downlow entitled Whompsteady (a monthly party coming to the Shattuck Downlow this Spring). Whompsteady 0.1 will feature both live acts and DJs. The evening will begin with our live instrumented acts and steadily move into realms of electronic WHOMP with Heavy Bass, Hip Hop and Latin Flare to keep the dance floor pumpin'.
Featured Artists:
Cohen (Newsuperheros - SF) - A neo folk rock treo, featuring low-fi ballads and upbeat danceable songs of adventure and romance played on drums, bass, guitar and the voice. Raw and driven energy and beautiful melodies combine to form a new genre known to the world as Gypsy-Pop.
Please note Cohen's early set time of 9:15-10:15pm!!!

Lila Rose & Mama Crow (Cyphertown/Mother Origional - SF) - A two woman vocal and electronic duo from the frontiers of eclectisism (reminiscent of Coco Rosie crossed with MIA, and Ani DiFranco). Combining acoustic guitar, various percussive instruments, looping petals, grindy synths, and a cast of innovative collaborators, these sisters will keep you wondering just what will be coming next...

Haj (Sub Swara/Freek Factory - NYC) is a seasoned veteran in the Brooklyn electronic scene. His latest project, Sub Swara (a five piece live/electronic collaboration with some of the most recognized names in the contemporary Brooklyn scene), mixes live tabla and Indian influence with Hip Hop vocals and glitchy breakbeat. Haj will be spinning a set of positive and danceable hip hop mixed with origionally produced tracks.

El Papachango (El Circo - SF) hails from perhaps the most well known Burning Man crew in the Bay Area, El Circo, which has forged much of the style and asthetic that the Bay Area underground electronic scene is known for. Rarely performing out any more, El Papachango will present a solid set of Latin Hip Hop, Glitch and Breakbeat, spicy as a hot summer evening on the tropical beaches of Argentina.

Cyphertown was launched as the first ever stage and theme camp for Live Hip Hop Culture at the Burning Man festival. Since then this artistic collective has been producing events which synergize progressive underground hip hop with cutting edge electronic music in order to raise funds and awareness about pertinent social and environmental justice causes. Cyphertown is proud to be working with the Shattuck Downlow to launch a new series of events entitled Whompsteady.
