TIRUPATI, JANUARY 5: The Executive Officer of TTD Dr D Samba Siva Rao has formally launched the issuance of Rs.300 special entry darshan tickets in all the head post offices (H.P.Os) present across the states of AP and Telengana in Tirupati on Monday.

Speaking on this occasion at the Head Post Office in Tirupati, the EO said, that TTD has entered into an agreement with Department of Posts(DoP) over the issuance of Rs.300 darshan tickets which facilitates a devotee to book the ticket even from a remote area.

TIRUPATI: A case has been registered against a Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) staffer for his alleged involvement in the black marketing of VIP break darshan tickets in Tirumala. The errant employee was M Sankar, who works as a mazdoor in the engineering wing of TTD.

Tirumala II Town police told Deccan Chronicle that Sankar sold six VIP break darshan tickets to a group of devotees from Hyderabad at an exorbitant price of Rs 42,000 each. The actual price of these tickets was only Rs 3,000.

During an inquiry, it came to light that Sankar obtained the six tickets by misusing a recommendation letter of an MLC. The vigilance and security wing lodged a complaint at the Tirumala II Town police station. The police subsequently took Sankar into custody.

The TTD authorities have appealed to all devotees to avoid approaching touts or middlemen for darshan tickets or accommodation in Tirumala. Instead, they must book tickets through the official TTD website.

I have to say, they have a very efficient travel system. There are a chain of buses travelling throughout the day, and you can get up on any of them, according to the location and time. All you need is a one-time ticket which you can buy at the information center (it takes less than a minute to buy tickets). The first bus of the day starts from the information center. They have tour guides who talk about Delhi's historical monuments while you're on the bus. The tour guides convey to the information center about the number of passengers getting off and on at each stop. The thing which I liked the most was: If you're at one of the stops and you want to get on a bus, just call the information center. They will tell you when the next bus is coming, and the tour guide is going to confirm with the information center after they have picked you up.
