The Watoto Children's Choir is a group of African children choirs based in Kampala, Uganda, at Watoto Church and which tours internationally.[1][2][3] Each is composed of about eighteen to twenty-two children from Uganda. Their tours raise money as well as awareness for the Watoto orphanages in Kampala.

As of May 2020, Watoto, the umbrella organisation, is under investigation by Uganda's Internal Security Organisation for alleged breaches of the country's child labour laws, taking children out of the country illegally and placing them at risk. Over 80 children reportedly remain stranded overseas in the US, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Brazil after Uganda closed its borders on 23 March. .mw-parser-output cite.citationfont-style:inherit;word-wrap:break-word.mw-parser-output .citation qquotes:"\"""\"""'""'".mw-parser-output .citation:targetbackground-color:rgba(0,127,255,0.133).mw-parser-output .id-lock-free a,.mw-parser-output .citation .cs1-lock-free abackground:url("//upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/65/Lock-green.svg")right 0.1em center/9px no-repeat.mw-parser-output .id-lock-limited a,.mw-parser-output .id-lock-registration a,.mw-parser-output .citation .cs1-lock-limited a,.mw-parser-output .citation .cs1-lock-registration abackground:url("//upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d6/Lock-gray-alt-2.svg")right 0.1em center/9px no-repeat.mw-parser-output .id-lock-subscription a,.mw-parser-output .citation .cs1-lock-subscription abackground:url("//upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/aa/Lock-red-alt-2.svg")right 0.1em center/9px no-repeat.mw-parser-output .cs1-ws-icon abackground:url("//upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4c/Wikisource-logo.svg")right 0.1em center/12px no-repeat.mw-parser-output .cs1-codecolor:inherit;background:inherit;border:none;padding:inherit.mw-parser-output .cs1-hidden-errordisplay:none;color:#d33.mw-parser-output .cs1-visible-errorcolor:#d33.mw-parser-output .cs1-maintdisplay:none;color:#3a3;margin-left:0.3em.mw-parser-output .cs1-formatfont-size:95%.mw-parser-output .cs1-kern-leftpadding-left:0.2em.mw-parser-output .cs1-kern-rightpadding-right:0.2em.mw-parser-output .citation .mw-selflinkfont-weight:inherit"Uganda megachurch criticised for choir tour as children stranded by Covid-19". After 3 years affected by the pandemic, the Watoto Children's Choir is finally back on tour! This October, Watoto Children's Choir "We Will Go" Asia Tour will begin in Hong Kong. During this 4-month tour in Asia, through passionate songs and dances, the children will share with the audience their life stories from despair to joy, and lead the audience into a moving journey as if they were in Africa.

Each of the children in the choir has suffered the loss of one or both parents. As they shared testimony on their individual challenges and experience, many audience members could be seen wiping away tears.

Since its inception, 60 choirs have traveled globally, providing the children with a bigger worldview, an unusual opportunity they would otherwise never get. To preview a performance of the choir visit: www.watoto.com/the-choir.

The choir raises money through performances to support the lives of the children in the Watoto Village in Uganda. The money is used for things like education, medical needs, sports, worship, discipleship and sustainability.

Starting locally Jan. 23, the choir, made up of 22 children ages 7 through 14, will bring their angelic voices and emotional stories of perseverance to several local cities including Upland, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles, South Pasadena, Moreno Valley and Victorville. The concerts are free and open to the public.

Watoto Children's Choir is a Watoto Children's Choir is a group of African children choirs based in Kampala, Uganda, Watoto Church (formerly Kampala Pentecostal Church or KPC). Watoto means "Children" in Swahili language. The choir is made up of children who have lost one or both parents to the AIDS epidemic or to war.

Locally, families hosted children and leaders of the choir in their homes. This year, the children were treated to a first time experience of going trick-or-treating with their local host families, and the church provided each child with a costume.

5 years ago we began a partnership with Watoto by sending musical instruments and helping with other needs through a portion of our CD sales. Our desire was to see the songs of worship we sang and wrote have life that would bring glory to God by following his call to care for the orphan. To show love to the fatherless, not just in word, but in action. We never imagined the impact it would have on us. We love Watoto. We love the model they have set up and the ministry that these rescued children are bringing to so many around the world.

We would like to extend our thanks to our producers Ben Gowell and Michael Olson as well as Wayne Thomas who tracked the choir in Uganda, the Watoto Writers, James Tealy, Pastor Todd Gaston and our friends at Mount Ararat for covering our travel expenses for this song. Most importantly we thank the children, who we love greatly and can't wait to see all that God will do in each one.

The Watoto Children's Choir, comprised of Ugandan children of many ages, visits the performance studio with their adult leaders, Paul and Eunice Musaali and Mercy Imusalaba. The children and their accompanying musicians perform songs written by members of the Watoto Church, which serves orphaned and vulnerable children and women with a variety of programs. The choir tours with different children each year, allowing as many children as possible to perform for audiences around the world.

Very much like UWC or ALA (African Leadership Academy), the aim of Watoto is to raise the next generation of African leaders, by pursuing excellence in academic and practical skills, integrity in conduct and moral values, so that each one becomes a a productive citizen. Watoto aims care for 10,000 children in Uganda by 2023 and to replicate the model in other countries across the continent so as to fast-track the rescue of orphaned children and vulnerable women in Africa. The performance was absolutely beautiful and incorporated traditional Ugandan elements (both in music and clothing) paired with modern ones. The stage was colorful like a rainbow and the African beats made almost everyone in the audience stand up and rock to the rythm of drums. In between the songs, stories of the children were shared and issues such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, the effects of war and the child soldier crisis in Northern Ugandan were highlighted.

So the last we heard from the choir, they had changed location. The choir has been in Australia for four months and are now in Asia for three more months before they head home. They flew into Singapore on the 8th of September and they were welcomed by the Watoto Asia team. It was a different experience on the plane as the children got to taste some of the Asian food.

Now while in Singapore, the choir got a chance go around the beautiful city of Singapore. With the beautiful lights and skyscrapers, the choir was amazed by the scenery of the city. As we went along, the children were heard asking if this was real.

Everyone has a chance to celebrate this one day that they were brought into this world. Right?? Now the choir was privileged to be hosted by uncle Stuart and his family from the Assemblies of God. We had the children and some of the adults celebrate their birthdays. Happiness and joy filled the room as cake and drinks were shared.
