Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the 5th Technical Workshop on Fuel Cycle Simulation (TWoFCS) will be held in Aix en Provence, France, from Tuesday, June 29th to Thursday, July 1st, 2021 at the Aquabella Hotel (4 Rue Jean Jaurès, 13100 Aix en Provence, FRANCE, https://www.aquabella.fr/en/). Originally planned in july 2020, the 5th Technical Workshop on Fuel Cycle Simulation, had been postponed due to the global health situation.

To foster the quality of exchanges, the workshop will be organised on-site. However, we are very aware of the sanitary crisis, and we also anticipate the possibility to organize it remotely if the sanitary situation does not allow a face-to-face edition. In this case, TWoFCS sessions could be organized from Monday, June 28th to Friday, July 2nd, 2021 to take into account the different time zones.

This 2021 workshop will be co-organized by CEA, CNRS/IN2P3 and IRSN. The organizing committee welcomes all scientists working around nuclear fuel cycle simulation to share their works and would like to focus this year’s meeting on the following topics:

·  Fuel cycle simulation tools and physical models

·  Nuclear fuel cycle scenarios studies

·  Energy transition scenario studies and their connection with nuclear energy

·  Exploratory analysis (optimization, uncertainty, resilience / robustness etc.)

·  Benchmarks and validation

·  Interdisciplinary studies (economy and sociology around nuclear fuel cycles and scenarios)

This year, we particularly welcome abstracts (and papers) that address the topic of uncertainties (their nature, their effects on FCS, the approaches that might help to manage them,...).

Fuel cycle simulation tools are used around the world for many different applications, future fuel cycle option assessment, economic prospective, sociology studies etc. Over the past year different tools have been developed by the different communities, using different philosophies, different objects and different capabilities.

This fifth dynamic nuclear fuel cycle workshop aims to connect those research efforts and to facilitate the development of international collaborations. The goal of this workshop is to give scientists the opportunity to present and exchange about their work, to build collaborations and projects at national and international levels.

A call for abstract will follow soon, along with the on-line free registration.

For questions regarding the workshop, please contact the organizing committee at twofc...@gmail.com

Please feel free to forward this mail to any people that could be interested in this workshop.

Looking forward to seeing you in Aix en Provence,

The FCW organizing committee.

P.S. If you are not in the FCW diffusion list, please send an email to twofc...@gmail.com to be added to the mailing list.
