Afternoon of Monday 20th January - what's new in Cambridge?

Dear Cyclists@Tea-time - Happy New Year!
With luck, you saw our message before Christmas about our visit to Cambridge and have been jealously protecting the date. We're now back with the details. And see further down for some background about where we're going.
The site visit will have four elements and you are welcome to join for those which most appeal:
- 11:45 start at Waterbeach station to visit the new development in that area, followed by a tour of the Milton Road scheme – you will need a cycle.
- 13:30 start at Cambridge station to visit the Milton Road scheme (possibly the first in the country to include both a Dutch-style crossroads and roundabout) – you will need a cycle.
- 15:30 start at Milton Road Library for the seminar at which we’ll hear from officers and other stakeholders about the schemes’ planning, implementation and reception. (Address: Ascham Road, Cambridge, CB4 2BD.) You should not need a cycle to get to this as it’s reasonably accessible by public transport.
- 17:00 post-seminar socialising at the Old Ticket Office just by Cambridge station (CB1 2JW).
See the foot of this message for access information and tips for hiring a cycle.
For booking, we’re going low-tech this time. If you plan to attend, please e-mail Neil Guthrie on ngut...@googlemail.com by Wednesday 15th January with the following:
- Your expected start point (Waterbeach station, Cambridge station or Milton Road Library. No, you don’t get to socialise if you haven’t done any of the hard yards first.)
- Any access requirements that we need to take into account.
Background
The Milton Road scheme is a major series of improvements including innovative cycling interventions. See this update from the Greater Cambridge Partnership - https://www.greatercambridge.org.uk/sustainable-transport-programme/active-travel-projects/milton-road
Waterbeach is the focus of major changes, including a Greenway into the city and a sustainable travel hub beside the new station in an area where 9,000 new homes are being built. More here - https://www.greatercambridge.org.uk/sustainable-transport-programme/active-travel-projects/greater-cambridge-greenways/waterbeach-greenway
Access information
Waterbeach station has step-free access to both platforms - https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/travel-information/station-information/wbc or https://www.accessable.co.uk/venues/waterbeach-station (though we note the level crossing is unstaffed and is a bit of a distance).
Cambridge station has lifts to all platforms - https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/travel-information/station-information/cbg
Milton Road Library is wheelchair accessible including an accessible toilet https://info.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/kb5/cambridgeshire/directory/service.page?id=3Mz7-irstyM&camcommunitychannel=6-1
The Old Ticket Office is fully wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet, according to its staff.
Cycle hire
There are various options in Cambridge. Voi offers e-cycles (and e-scooters) and these can generally be picked up at Cambridge station. Byke has cycles at the Milton Park & Ride site and Outspoken is close to Cambridge North station. Get in touch with us if you need advice.
That'll do for now. We very much hope you'll be able to join us in Cambridge on the 20th.
Past sessions and signing up
Whilst we're on, a note that a great many past sessions of both Cycling@ and Walking@Tea-time can be found here: https://blog.westminster.ac.uk/ata/events/teatime-series/ along with lots of other goodies from the Active Travel Academy.
