It is a very long article,and some of the detail is a bit erroneous, particularly on the autonomy of the County Council's contractors, but the overall points are valid.

Incidentally, the gate at the end of Magdalen's Fellows' Garden, leading to Kings Mill Lane off Marston Road by the Islamic Centre to the Parks, was only locked from some point after I was an undergraduate. It used to be a brilliant walk, cutting out the rather dull bit along St Clements. So you could go out via Magdalen and back through the parks.

Thanks for sharing that Graham - deadly serious piece but enjoyed the history lesson en route, both the recent and the not so recent past.

I went to a shopping centre in Banbury a little while ago where pushing a bike was banned, not that that's something I can do...
