Bike wheel problem! 

 My young student neighbour at #7 Western Rd, has bought a bike and now finds that it had a broken rear axle… so I’m looking for a spare rear axle to fix it for him. 

 His bike has gears. 

 I thought I could help but - 

(1) the only spare axle I have is for a front wheel, so it’s too short. 

 (2) I did had a rear wheel for a bike with gears, it had been dumped in my garden. I’d left it there for an occasion such as this but, it’s been nicked! 

 Can anyone help? 

I’m happy to remove a wheel or axle.
