Hi,
finally I have terminated printing and assembling all the mechanical parts of my Cyclone!
Now I need to choose a controller board and the needed power supply and here I have a few questions:
1) I have read in the Cyclone shopping list that a Mega3D, a RAMPS board and a power supply 12V min 2A are needed.
I think that in this case, following could be used, also to be able to load the GRBL for RAMPS 1.4 firmware e.g.
1 x Arduino MEGA2560
1 x RAMPS 1.4 board
3 x stepper Driver A4988
3 x heat sink for the stepper drivers
Is this all what I need?
2) I have seen that there is also a GT2560 board, combining the Arduino MEGA2560 and the RAMPS 1.4, but it's not
clear about the compatibility and if it works with GRBL firmware.
Did somebody use it and with success?
3) I have bought 3 NEMA 17 stepper motors (1.8 degrees) and in the description is written that they need 12V or
24V and that the nominal current is 1.2A.
When I connect the NEMA 17 motors to the stepper drivers on the RAMPS board, can I use e.g. a desk 12V 5A power supply
for both the controller and the 3 NEMA motors, or I need 2 different power supplies?
4) For the Arduino MEGA2560 and connected RAMPS 1.4 board there are different power supply connectors:
one rounded, black in the Arduino board and
several green on the RAMPS 1.4 board.
In the case that a 12V 5A desk power supply with rounded connector is usable, does it deliver power to both the
Arduino and the RAMPS board (inclusive NEMA motors) and a additional connection to the green RAMPS connectors is no more needed?
Many thanks for suggestions!
