Hi,
actually I would prefer the new forum. I usually have problems here with inserting other things than a plain text (format...), have not found an option to correct a posted item, searching function seems to be doubtful,... I do not admire google groups unfortunately.
Martin, you brought here a lot of tremendous content. I believe if you copy/start_to_store it at the forum, a lot of people will migrate.

I realize that I'm usually in the minority, but I do not like forums.
They get filled with spam, they get hacked, people get bored and stop
maintaining it or the providers stop providing, plus I'm in e-mail all
day, every day, and a forum is another "destination" I have to drop
what I'm doing and go check vs e-mail all coming into the same place.

I don't know if the metaphor will translate to the international
audience, but to me, a forum is like a cul de sac in the suburbs.
It's OK when you get there, but you have to make a special trip, and
you can't get anywhere else from there without going back the long way
because it's only connected in one place.

Plus 1 here. Google groups just work. I can control what mails i get. Its instant interaction via email..  or via browser.

Moving off google groups to a forum... i can bet you at least half your members wont bother joining the forum

+1 with google groups I used to love forums and took me awhile to accept that mail lists are much faster to read, easier to follow topics and also  since a few years ago I am heavily using RSS basicallly now I have 2 sources of information (my email and my RSS reader).

+ethan Dicks yours is the most profound argument against forums that I have ever ever read.  :)
