Hello, everyone,
My name is Ethan. I run the 3D Printing activities at our local makerspace, the Columbus Idea Foundry, and I teach workshops on Electronics, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and, of course, 3D Printing. I've wanted to add an EagleCAD class but wanted it to be a practical lesson, not just drawing. The idea is to start the students out with a blank page, go through schematic capture, board layout, then make a board right there at the end of class and either send them home with it, or if there's time, have them solder it up before they leave. One simple subject might be a simple pushbutton-LED flashlight. I've built a couple of 3D printers and the Cyclone looks like a great fit for our makerspace and our interests.
In the meantime, I'll be asking our regular members to print and contribute the 3D parts and we'll build the wood and metal bits on the equipment we have in our shop.
Cheers,
-ethan
