Hello to all,

Spring is finally upon is (or at least it will be soon), which means there will finally be some nice weather for us to ride outside.  I've got a lot of stuff to cover, so I'll organize it into sections.

A) Jerseys
B) Racing
C) Training
D) Presidency

A)  So the second order of jerseys will be coming in at the end of this week / beginning of next week.  If you have not paid for it yet, please do so soon.  I used my own money to help cover the cost until everyone has payed.  I've also ordered a few extra M,L jerseys in case anyone new shows up who wants one.  So if you know someone who wants a jersey, get them into contact with me.  They are $63 for club members and $70 for non-club members.  We also still have a few long sleeve shirts left, size M,L $15 for club members and $20 for non.

B) We're halfway into the collegiate season now and Rodney, Ryan, Travis, and myself have been representing OU in the races thus far.  This upcoming weekend there are races at Michigan and MSU, so if you're interested in starting to race, this is the perfect opportunity.  There are tons of people of all levels and it's very close, so it's worth giving it a shot.  It is only $12 to enter the races.  More info at www.mwccc.org  Everyone who's interested in going, please let me know so I can possibly put together a car pool plan.  I will not be in attendance at those races, I've decided to do the non-collegiate local training races instead.  Let me know if you'd rather do that as well..

C)  The weather is starting to get a little warmer and more and more people are starting to ride outside every day.  I believe that it is almost time for us to start up a weekly group ride once again.  Once all the snow melts, we will have training at the velodrome as well.  Would people want to do a wednesday training ride again, going from around 3-6 pm around OU campus and the tech center across the street?  moderate pace, social, catching up?

D)  After this spring/summer, I will have to pass on the Presidency of the club to someone else who is willing to do the job.  I've been accepted to Lees-McRae college in NC which has an amazing biking program and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, so I'm taking it.  A lot of the work for the club is already set up, the jersey design is done so all we need to do to get more is do a re-order.  Sponsorship with RBS is pretty secure.  Perhaps some html knowledge would be good to help run the webpage?  Whoever is interested, please get back with me.

That is all for now, I will be riding around OU tomorrow (Wenesday) starting at 2:30pm and going until whenever it gets dark.  Feel free to join me.   (248)840-9614

First congrads on being accepted to that university. Sounds like a great opportunity for you.

As far as training rides go sounds like a good idea to get those started up again. Also as far as the presidency goes, that is something that the group needs to vote on/decided, so if possible we need to set something up where everyone can vote, put their name in the hat, or what ever it is to decided that.

I agree that we should decide the next president by votes, but at the same time, we have to make sure that each candidate is "qualified" for the position.  There is a lot of different stuff to deal with, such as dealing with the club sports administration, USA cycling renewal / forms, website renewal, managing funds, club logos, etc.  Often at times, managing these different things can be very time consuming, so perhaps one thing to do would be to split up these tasks/responsibilities and have more governing positions for the club.  Such as someone in charge of fundraisers, like Jamie and Laura who have done an amazing job!

In one of the future meetings, we will have everyone interested in different positions give a speech about what they have to offer and also their plans for the club.  Afterwards, we can do a "name in the hat" type of voting.  Once the winner is decided, I will make sure to pass on all my knowledge so that person will be comfortable with what they are doing.

Rodney - are you planning on racing Michigan or FR#1 on saturday?

Also, good luck to you guys in the TTT on sunday, I wish I could make it.
