Hi Everyone,

I am getting in touch to ask if anyone would be interested in the idea of being a station Cycle Champion for any of the stations in our district?  This would be a scheme with the backing of Northern Rail and champions may even be able to take a small (probably very small you understand!) budget to support their work.

The success of such a scheme would be dependant upon someone with a real enthusiasm for a place (if not necessarily the station per se) to be a success.  So if you love where you live generally or specifically as a cycling destination then perhaps you might like to volunteer.

I think the nature of this role will evolve depending upon what you want to do and on best practice from elsewhere.  Initially I would be happy for it to be whatever you choose, just so long as it has some focus on the station and our NR partners agree with your take on things.

Perhaps you could lead some rides from the station, use the role to raise some issues relating to the station's facilities and perhaps perform fund raising to deal with these issues?

If this is of interest (or if [you have any related comments) please let me know and I will raise it with NR colleagues.

Thanks,
CouncilTom
