Warwick student’s blog re-post
Is not over yet. Having our bikes in Copenhagen has been amazing as we have been cycling all over the city - chasing the demos and going from space to space.
We can’t help but notice the fantastic, efficient, inspiring facilities for cyclists. Unlike in the UK, here we are treated as primary commuters - cycle routes are nearly as wide as roads, on every road we have our own path around roundabouts, our own traffic lights, we hear how in the summer rush hour the lights are timed so bikes to have constant green. Every other shop is for ‘cycklers’.
It is so encouraging that is no suprise that so many people cycle here. It is not a novelty to have a bike and we are not a minority. Facilities and users really do go hand in hand. There are bikers in the UK but I think if conditions improved this would be so so encouraging for people. Denmark really is leading the way…respect.
