Hello all,

Just to update you on progress, there hasn't been any.  That is to say, the two meetings scheduled for September have been cancelled, because it was decided by SCC's Cabinet that the steering group should include councillors from Suffolk CC and Ipswich BC and this will take some time to arrange and schedule.  I am not sure when the project will be back on the road.  However, in the meantime, the comments I made on behalf of Cycle Ipswich are being incorporated in a new draft. 

The new draft will include an updated list of schemes/routes.  Currently this is as previously circulated, but with the addition of Whitton Lane/Fisk's Lane, which Shaun and I suggested recently.  There is some degree of mis-match between the "tube map" schematic of routes incorporated in the previous version and the list, so I shall feed back the missing routes as far as I can determine them, together with any others that seem to be missing (e,g, Handford Road/London Road between the Yarmouth Rd junction and Civic Drive).  You can see my summary of the routes here.  I shall update it as things go ahead.  Please feel free to suggest any additional routes you think should be added to the mix.

The current list does not contain any additional LTNs or point closures of rat runs.  This is a big omission in my view, but one reason may be that I was due to talk about what we have done at today's meeting and so they may have been holding back for that.  I plan to document what I would have said and include a prioritised list, which I shall circulate to this group for comments.

Finally, there is nothing on School Streets in the list of proposed schemes.  This needs remedying.  If anyone would like to produce a prioritised list of, say, a dozen, that would be really helpful.  The schools are plotted on the Beelines map.

Good work Leo,

I suggest we schedule a meeting at the end of the month so we can compare notes on how things are going and compare information on what we’re all doing, particularly with respect to how best to approach the politics. Next transport task force meeting is next month also.
