Civic Engagement and Games / Second Life

Hi all, thought you might be interested in two opportunities related
to civic engagement:

1. On Tuesday, 6 November, from 1:00-1:30 EST (10-10:30 SLT), resident/
creators invite you to engage with and test-drive the new Boston
Island (SLURL: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Boston%20Island/126/211/44
). Boston Island is officially sponsored by the City of Boston and the
Boston Redevelopment Authority, one of the few (or only)
municipalities officially using Second Life to engage citizens and
residents in civic life. (Other efforts have primarily focused on
tourism). Tomorrow's test run will be for parts of the island built by
Emerson College students; another part is being built by Boston
residents from several communities and organizations. Please come by
and give us your expert advice!

2. On Thursday, 8 November, from 5-7pm EST, the MIT Communications
Forum hosts a conversation about Games and Civic Engagement. Please

and directions to the Bartos Theater (near the MIT Media Lab space).
