There's a bug in the recent version(s) of Cyberduck for OSX that grays out the "Anonymous" checkbox when configuring an S3 bookmark.  A previous version didn't have this problem, but I'm not sure what version, as I have since overwritten it.  It was driving me crazy but I finally figured out a super hacky workaround:
  1. Configure everything in the S3 bookmark except for the unavailable "anonymous" checkbox
  2. In the protocol dropdown at the top of the config window, change from "Amazon S3" to "FTP (File Transfer Protocol)".  All of the configs stay the same, but the "anonymous" checkbox is now available!
  3. Check the "anonymous" checkbox
  4. Change the protocol dropdown back to "Amazon S3"
  5. ???
  6. Profit!
Hopefully they fix this bug, but if not maybe somebody else facing the same problem can find this and bang their head fewer times than I did
