Can't download files with unknown extensions

Hi,
I have not found any answers yet for this problem elsewhere so I ask
here. I use version 3.4 of cyberduck because the more recent ones take
too long to connect to my university's webDAV servers (problem
reported elsewhere). It works fine except it seems I can't download
files from the WebDAV server if I don't have the software to open them
on my macbook.
Exemple:
I can download an Excel or Word document fine, but documents saved on
the server by Origin 8.5, or CAD designs in .gds or .dxf give me this
error in the transfer window (in french... sorry):

I/O Erreur: Échec du téléchargement
"file location and name"
Couldn't get file.

In the console on the mac, I also get this error:

I use my mac at the office for most of my work, but I have a pc for
the applications that don't exist on mac! So this is a problem since I
want to send some files by email with Mail, but I can't get the files
on the mac.
Hope there are enough details for a solution.

The upcoming 4.1 release of Cyberduck includes a all new implementation of the WebDAV protocol. Please update to the latest beta build [1] and report any issues you find.

Hi, I just updated to Version 4.1 (8759) today. When I tried to
connect to a book mark that did connect with version 4.0.2 (although
it took long as mentioned before), I can't seem to connect it... it
asks for the password and even if I input the right one, it re-asks it
one second later....
In the OSX message console, I get :

Sorry for the late response. I would like to track this down further. Can you open a bug report [1] with the transcript from the log drawer (⌘-L) attached.

From the error message it looks like your server is requesting (possibly among other alternatives) SNPNEGO/Kerberos authentication. Currently the configuration for Kerberos is missing in Cyberduck and not supported. We will change the default autenticatino preference in the next snapshot build to prefer alternative authentication mechanism if available. Thanks for reporting this issue.

I have been busy lately, sorry for the delay.
Just now, I have tried the latest versions of cyberduck. I see a
couple things:
1- v3.4 works fine.
2- v4.0.2 is able to connect normally (fast) if I use the new
connexion button but delays for about 2 min if I use a bookmark (for
the same parameters). Then cyberduck asks for a password in the
"ouverture de session échouée" message box. If I click connect, it
does the same thing. If I cancel and then re-click on the bookmark, it
connects normally (fast).
3- In v4.1, which ever method I use, I can't connect to my directory.
it does the same 2min lag thing.
4- As I have seen in the recent tickets, v4.1.1 crashes upon
launching. I used a version downloaded directly from the website (not
the applestore if it means anything)
In all the versions prior to 4.1 that I have tried, the problem of
downloading unknown extensions files is present.
What should I do next to help resolve this issue.
