I can succesfully upload a .zip file, but whenever I select it, the
option "expand", is not selectable.
I read the FAQ, and found the following:
"The remote systems must have the archiving tools tar or zip installed
respectively."
What does remote systems mean? How do I install them?

You need to have the software on the computer you have uploaded the
file, too. You can't use software on your computer on the remote
computer.

The remote system means the server you connect to. Note that expanding archives is only supported if you connect using a SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) connection.
