No matter how easy you make it to get compute resources in the cloud, you still have to set up and run apps. How can you make it trivially easy to do that? Sandstorm may be one answer. Here's an article about it (picked up through ACM TechNews).

Ah - now this is interesting. I've been wondering when this new generation of technologies (cloudy stuff) would get to this point.

Sandstorm is providing a service that I'm very familiar with and could talk about for hours, but it'd make for a good blog post, so I'll keep this reply down to one thought:

I volunteered at the Calgary Hacking Health event the other month. Participants were able to use RAC to help develop their project. They had access to thousands of cpus and hundreds of gigs of ram, but the most common question asked was "So how can I get Wordpress running?"
