This is a great summary of an AWS talk from last year. The statistics given are, as the title says, stunning. Especially:

"All 14 other cloud providers combined have 1/5th the aggregate capacity of AWS (estimate by Gartner)"

There are also some great points made about data centre availability as well as the current state of network equipment.
