If you haven't heard of
DevOps Weekly, I highly recommend subscribing to it. That and
Github's Explore Email are how I learn about most new sysadmin and devops stuff.
Though most DevOps Weekly newsletters will have one or two links of interest, there's occasionally a week where it's crammed with interesting stuff. This was one of those weeks. Even better (or worse depending on how much free time you have), these links all have numerous sub-items to check out:
Tech Advent calendars have been popular for a number of years now, starting with (I think) Perl back in
2000. These calendars feature a daily article between December 1st and 25th.
The
sysadvent calendar has been increasing in popularity over the past few years.
Here's a slide deck on
Mesos, Docker, and Kubernetes. I liked how it gave a balanced view of each technology, though still managed to be optimistic about them all.
Sysadmin Casts has a number of short podcasts on various sysadmin topics.
Netflix has
released a new tool called
Atlas that handles time-series data.
And this item was not found in DevOps weekly, but still interesting nonetheless:
Canonical announced
Ubuntu Core: a minimal, read-only Ubuntu distribution that installs applications through image-based transactions.
Happy reading and happy holidays!
