Explanation: 

The electrical impulses from the brain are transmitted to different parts of the body via nerves. 

Due to this ionic current flow, the voltage variations of small amplitude are produced, these variations can be measured with the help of an instrument called Electroencephalograph (EEG) and the recordings are called Electroencephalogram. 

The Electrical Impulses can be picked up by placing the electrodes on the scalp.
