FYI from CyberPatriot about additional training resources. The scoring system sounds promising. I haven't looked at it yet; I wonder how modifiable it is.

Dear CyberPatriot Coaches and Mentors,

The CyberPatriot Program Office is happy to announce that new training materials for CyberPatriot VI are now available on the training page of our website. All materials were created by Texas A&M University Corpus Christi on a National Science Foundation Grant.

Click Here for the Links to the New Materials

The following images can be downloaded from this page:

Two Ubuntu Practice Images: These images are NOT self-scoring. Rather, each zipped file containing these images also contains two PDF files. One of these documents outlines the scenario for the image and contains a few hints about the vulnerabilities that exist inside it. The other document contains information about the vulnerabilities in the image, as well as the solutions to those problems. Coaches and Mentors may use these documents to monitor team progress.

The login information for each image is below.

Account: argus

Password: Windows12

Scoring Engine Tools: The files in this folder can be used to implement a scoring client that will score fixed vulnerabilities that Coaches or Mentors have introduced into a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 image. There is NO image  in this folder. Coaches and Mentors will need to modify and download an image on the Microsoft Developers Network (MSDN) and then implement the scoring client on the image. This scoring client is not the CyberPatriot Competition System; it was created by Texas A&M University Corpus Christi on a National Science Foundation Grant. The university's generous support adds a great deal to both the CyberPatriot program and the education of all our participants.

Instructions on how to implement the scoring client can be found in the README file in the Scoring Engine Tools folder. Note that the scoring client will only register a vulnerability as fixed if the solution matches exactly what the Coach has configured in the system. For example, if the minimum password length is set to 10, values of 11 or higher will not register as correct fixes.

New images will be added soon. Keep an eye on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/cyberpatriot, and our Twitter account, www.twitter.com/CyberPatriot, for more updates.

 Very respectfully,
