This talk will pick up on and develop some of the cybernetic themes in Neither Vertical Nor Horizontal: A Theory of Political Organisation (Verso, 2021). Of special interest will be the ways in which certain cybernetic insights are foreshadowed by thinkers such as Lenin and Gramsci, and, conversely, how they shed new light on old and recent political debates

Participants Bios:

Rodrigo Nunes is a senior lecturer in political theory and organisation at the University of Essex. He is the author, among others, of Neither Vertical Nor Horizontal: A Theory of Political Organisation (Verso, 2021) and The View from Brazil: Far Right and Neoliberalism in a World in Transition (Verso, forthcoming).
