American Society for Cybernetics Conference 2026
Ouro Preto, Brazil – August 3–7, 2026

“To bring together the dispersed and to engage the distracted.” (Vilém Flusser)

Deadline extended - Call for participation

The American Society for Cybernetics is pleased to announce that the Call for Participation is open for ASC 2026 Conference: Conversational Confluences, to be held in Ouro Preto, Brazil, from August 3 to 7, 2026.

Inspired by the notion of confluence articulated by  Brazilian thinker Nego Bispo, ASC 2026 invites encounters in which diverse worldviews, practices, and epistemologies meet without erasure or assimilation. Confluence, in this sense, is not a process of homogenization, but one of mutual amplification, where differences strengthen rather than diminish collective possibilities. Like rivers that merge and gain force, such encounters foster resilience, plurality, and the emergence of new modes of living and knowing.

ASC Brazil 2026 is organized around eight thematic tracks, each led by proponents who will guide conversations within their respective domains. Participation in any track requires the submission of an extended abstract. All participants are therefore invited to submit an extended abstract of approximately 500 words, aligned with the concerns, approaches, and formats of their chosen track.

Submission deadline: February 23, 2026  - March 16, 2026*
Location: Ouro Preto, Brazil
Conference dates: August 3–7, 2026

* Abstracts from contributors who do not require feedback for travel funding or registration confirmation may be submitted until April 27, 2026.
