The AMC Working Group is honored to host a conversation with Roy Ascott, a visionary artist and theorist whose integration of cybernetics and art has shaped telematic and contemporary media art. We will explore his pioneering contributions to art, pedagogy, and distributed intelligence, from his early Constructivist works to his groundbreaking Groundcourse program and international academic influence.
Contribution by the ASC to the yearly systemic design conference RSD have become a tradition. Please note that the RSD14 call for Toronto (and online) in autumn this year has a first deadline on March 15.
The 2025 Relating Systems Thinking and Design Symposium (RSD14) explores the transformative potential of relational perspectives in systemic design. RSD14: Arcs of Impact traces how systemic change unfolds when systems are understood not as static structures but as evolving constellations of relationships. This year’s symposium examines relationality as a central force in systemic design, leadership, and governance, shaping the pathways of change across social, ecological, and organisational contexts.
The intent-to-submit period for papers closes on March 15, 2025. This is a two-stage process: no new submissions will be accepted after March 15, and final submissions are due by 23:59 GMT on April 30. Submit via EasyChair.
The next Politics of the Machines conference, is dedicated to Synthetic Sentience and will take place in Perth, Australia, 16-18 July 2025 at the University of Western Australia. Track 01 and Track 07 are ASC related. Track 07 has been conceived by ASC's new Art, Media and Cybernetics Working Group.
Initiated by researchers with strong interests in practice-based research, POM considers papers, workshops, artworks, performances, and other forms of knowledge sharing. There are seven tracks inviting submissions. Abstracts for POM2025 are due on March 29 (extended deadline)./https://www.pomconference.org/pom-perth-2025/
