Greetings!  I hope that this email finds you and your loved ones well.

You are cordially invited to join the 6th 24hr. Transcontinental Meet-‘n-Greet to celebrate and promote the philosophy of Karl Popper and critical rationalism.

It will take place on Saturday, January 10th starting at 8:00 am GMT (London, UK).  The ZOOM room will open at 7:30 am GMT, and the facilitated discussion and conversations will begin at 8:00am GMT.  It is a free event, and everyone is welcome. The entire event will be recorded, and eventually posted on YouTubeIf you would like to opt-out, turn off your camera and change your ZOOM name.

Unfortunately, last year again, two important Popper-related scholars past away:  Philip Benesch (1959-2025) and Claire Ortiz Hill (1951-2025) Philip will be remembered at 4-6 pm GMT.  To learn more about Clalre's connection to Karl Popper's work, visit ourkarlpopper, net, or go to the bottom of this email.
FINAL PROGRAM:

The Meet 'n Greet consists of six facilitated conversations/discussions. All times are GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). To convert GMT into your timezone, go to www.timeanddate.com.

All conversations/discussions will take place in the ZOOM breakout room, labeled ALL EVENTS. Additional breakout rooms are available for further discussion and one-on-one conversations.

ANY SUGGESTIONS OR IDEAS FOR NEXT YEAR'S 24HRS. TRANSCONTINENTAL KARL POPPER MEET 'N GREET:

Would you like to host a session of 0.5-2 hrs?  Do you know someone associated with the philosophy of karl Popper who deserves to be celebrated.  Please send an email to ourkar...@gmail.com

IF IT IS THE FIRST TIME THAT YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN A TRANSCONTINENTAL KARL POPPER MEET 'N GREET:

All of us are volunteers who think that Karl Popper is communicating something unique and special in his work that mainstream philosophers have not fully grasped yet. These Meet 'n Greets are to be treated as an opportunity for informal networking, conversations, and discussions . They are a complement to the bi-annual "Karl Popper & Critical Rationalism ZOOM Conference," organized by Jeremy Shearmur. To be put on the associated mailing list, contact Jeremy....@fallowfield.info.

When you click on the ZOOM link, you will be put in the WAITING ROOM. Once you have been admitted you will have entered the MAIN SESSION room. There you will meet someone of the co-organizing team who will address any questions you may have. He or she will send you to the breakout room, labeled, ALL EVENTS, where all the presentations will take place. Additional breakout rooms are available for further small group and/or one-on-one conversations.

HAVE YOU JOINED THE  Karl Popper with Everyone Google group YET:

The Google group was launched during the Jan 2023 Meet 'n Greet. It exists for the purpose of sharing skills and expertise to advance the philosophy of Karl Popper and the practical attitude of critical rationalism. That is, to request and offer skills and expertise -- web design, database programming, social media etc. -- to help one another with one's individual critical rationalism projects. Further details can be found in the Google-group description itself.

OTHER DETAILS:

The Annual Transcontinental Karl-Popper Meet 'n Greets are organized by the Friends of ourkarlpopper.net and they are intended as informal gatherings to say hello to new and old friends & colleagues. There is no need to prepare anything. The only thing that is expected from you is to click on the ZOOM link and be ready to join the conversation. The latest details can be found by clicking on the TAB in the top right-hand corner of the ourkarlpopper.net web page..

People can drop by any time at their convenience. It is not necessary to RSVP, but it is strongly encouraged to help the organizing team plan better. Current ZOOM capacity is 100 and can be increased as needed. For those with a Facebook account, there is an event page where one can RSVP. Feel free to forward this invitation to anyone that you believe might be interested in attending this event.

My very best, Margaretha H.
On behalf of the organizing team (Rafe Champion, Luc Castelein, Phil Wood, Elyse Hargreaves, Margaretha Hendrickx)

This Meet 'n Greet is dedicated to the memory of Claire Ortiz Hill (1951-2025) who passed away on December 4th, in Paris, France. Claire was an expert in the "Logical Investigations" of Edmund Husserl. She never met Karl Popper, but she became a colleague, friend and house-guest of Ivor Grattan-Guinness who obtained a M. Sc. degree in 1966 at the London School of Economics where he interacted with both Karl Popper and Imre Lakatos. Claire helped me (i.e., this blog's administrator) understand the backdrop against which Popper wrote his 1978 Bibliographic Note that he added on page 152 at the end of Chapter 3, "Epistemology Without a Knowing Subject" in the 1979 revised edition of "Objective Knowledge. An Evolutionary approach. Claire was a good friend and colleague to Ruth Barcan Marcus, Jaakko Hintikka, and Barry Smith. Humorously, Claire pointed out that she had never been institutionalized. Many of her paper are available at her Academia.edu website. [If you have trouble accessing any of the linked websites in this paragraph, please send an email to ourkar...@gmail.com.

even if in so doing they mistake a baker for a stone-thrower.
