Dear Adler,
Along with greeting you and to all the American Society for Cybernetics members, I'm contacting you because I'm writing a biography of Humberto Maturana, and I'd like to interview members who worked with Dr. Maturana and with members who have worked based on his contributions to cybernetics.
Let me introduce myself: my name is Alfredo Potthoff. I'm Chilean and a writer. I've worked for print media in Chile, such as the newspaper El Mercurio and La Segunda. In my work as a journalist, I had the honor of interviewing Dr. Humberto Maturana more than once, and I wrote a book about interviews with Chilean figures, including Maturana. The book is called "Entrevistas Íntimas" (spanish) (translation to english)
As I mentioned, I would love to talk with you about Maturana’s influence on the field in which you work. My research seeks to show the historical context in which Maturana carried out his work, his contributions, his personal life and the more intimate aspects that led him to become a world-renowned scientist, and finally, the seed he left with his research and contributions for the future of science in general, and of course, for cybernetics.
The interview time would be approximately 40 minutes via Zoom (I speak fluent English, but it's not my native language).
Alternatively, it can also be done via email, if you prefer.
At first, the biography will be published in Spanish. And then, hopefully will be published in English and other languages.
The plan is to publish the book at the end of next year.
Here is one of my interviews with Dr. Humberto Maturana published in 2019 (La Segunda Newspaper): in spanish, translation to english
