Abstract

This presentation, like our book, is an invitation to join the conversation, to think in new ways about difference, fostering greater empathy, compassion, and cooperation. This is an enchanting, albeit, challenging, path of self-discovery, a process of sharing stories, cultivating curiosity, and asking provocative questions.  Loving the questions!

It requires an openness and a willingness to take a fresh look at how we come to know, learn, communicate, and make meaning in an increasingly ambiguous and paradoxical world. We trace the unfolding interdependence of living and non-living systems that form the fabric of relationships, pointing us toward new perspectives, greater understanding and beauty.

Participants' Bios:

Steven P. Guerriero: His career path is filled with variety. Starting in social services, then entrepreneurial businesses in the food and hospitality industry and ending with a long career in higher education as a faculty member and administrator.

Steve is former chair of the graduate management program at AUNE, as well as teaching courses in the master’s and doctoral program in Environmental Studies. He served as vice president for academic affairs at AUNE and later as graduate dean, dean of faculty and vice president for academic affairs at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia.

Michael Hohl: He is a specialist in design theory and research. His work explores design as an exploratory and reflective practice, combining systematic methods with open-ended experimentation. Operating at the intersection of theory, practice, and collaboration with industry, he develops products, services, and concepts that address contemporary challenges such as sustainability, demographic change, and human–machine interaction. In his academic work, he emphasizes curiosity, critical reflection, experimentation, and the willingness to learn from failure.
