THE NEXT BOOK YOU SHOULD READ
"Crossing The Threshold" Teaches Self Awareness
Crossing the Threshold: Opening Your Door to Successful Relationships, by Talayah G. Stovall, with Valencia E. Edner, shows how becoming your "best self" will draw the type of relationship you seek. Using analogies of women as various types of "doors", the book encourages readers to break the mindsets that hold them back and keep them repeating the same relationship patterns. They will discover how to develop the qualities they seek in others as they move from a "Door Mat" - allowing themselves to be walked on, "Door Prize" - expecting to be put on a pedestal, or other negative "Door" mentalities to the God-focused, self-aware and relationship-ready "Door Belle." Perhaps most importantly, the book facilitates the readers' understanding of the fact that in order for others to value them, they must first value themselves. They will discover that THEY are the key that unlocks the door to a successful
relationship. Readers will learn to:
-
Remove the patterns that cause them to repeat self-defeating behaviors
-
Repair their self-image and recover from the "Cinderella Syndrome"
-
Release "Mr. In The Meantime" and relationship "baggage"
-
Recognize the characteristics of "Mr. Right" and a true love relationship
-
Revise their outlook to change their outcomes - develop the "Door Belle" within
With a powerful foreword by Dr. Linda G. Owens, PhD, this book will help you develop an understanding of who you are so that you can grow into the person that God designed you to be.

PEOPLE TO WATCH: Tiffan M. Leroy - a journey from "legal eagle" to "makeover maven"
I always had a love for fashion ever since she was a little girl. I grew up on South Side of Chicago with five other siblings raised by a single motherwho inspired my love of make-up and fashion. I attended high school at Corliss and followed the career path that I believed was my future. I went to college at Alabama State University obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1993 and then went on to Law School at Duquesne University School of Law and graduated in 1996 with a doctorate of jurisprudence.
I then began practicing law in 2000 after being licensed in Illinois. I worked as a Prosecutor in the Cook County State's Attorneys Office for three and a half years. After leaving the State's Attorneys Office in 2004, I took a job with the CTA in their law department and I work there presently as a Senior Attorney.
However, I began to become disgruntled with the practice of law and wanted to try something else that I always felt passionate about and that was makeup! Friends, family and coworkers had always admired my skills in putting on my makeup and told me that I should do faces for money! I had always done this for myself and for fun with friends but never thought I could make any money doing it.
After laying in bed one night unable to sleep, the idea came to me to start my own makeup business, Ms. Tiffany L.'s Pretty Faces in 2005. My best friend had business cards created for me and I was in business! I began doing makeup for girls going to the prom, women getting married and makeup for photoshoots.
The most notable work I have done has been mostly donated. In 2005, I did the makeup for a few of the contestants in the Chicago Idol Contest and one one of the young ladies I did makeup for was named the winner. I have also done the faces of models for a fundraising event for Chi Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in 2006.
I am still in the process of trying to garner a foothold in the industry, but I will continue on the journey because its something that I absolutely enjoy doing. Its been said that when you enjoy something, the money will come and I truly believe that!
Tiffany will creating pretty faces at this Saturday's "Pampering For a Purpose" fundraiser.
