Earlier tonight, I was playing magic. My opponent had a card out that allowed him to place a 2/2 goblin token on the board for every creature that made an attack. He also had one out that allowed him to sacrifice one of his creatures and destroy any nonland permanent.
It sounds like the Goblin in question was given a blocker during the Declare Blockers step. At that point, the other player does have the opportunity use an ability to sacrifice the goblin, and if the goblin is doomed to die, that's probably a good choice.
It will have counted as attacking, but since it's dead by the combat damage step, it's gone and won't actually be there to do anything. Your blocker won't take damage from the goblin, for instance - the goblin will be dead and gone.
(There was a time in the past when you could cast spells and use abilities during combat damage, so that the goblin could deal combat damage and get sacrificed too, but that was weird and got removed from the rules a few years ago in M10.)

I've recently purchased spore on ea and i played for maybe 15 minutes and finished the cell stage with no game issues, as soon as i finish making my creature with legs and launch, the game infinitely loads and eventually i can hear game sound but im still stuck on the load screen, please help me and my girlfriend have the same issue, ive looked all over and tried everything but nothing works.
@ExcitingSpade49been trying everything everywhere for hours , compatibility mode, resolution, lowest graphics, updating graphics card, deleting graphics packages sifting through posts and wikis that are mostly 10+ years old etc etc literally anything i could find and i've been having this exact same issue. played through the cell stage then got to creature stage and it loads for a bit, then i can hear the sound and music of my creature and things seem to work fine but visually im still stuck on the loading screen then after a while of waiting it crashes. im stumped man but im glad at least someone has the exact issue. mad i can't play a childhood game i paid for anymore.
yea man it sucks me, and my girlfriend both are having the same issues and we have tried everything, i was hoping to have some more luck posting here and seeing if anyone has had the issue and fixed it
@Zariaomy game had problems with crashing and sometimes wouldnt start up, i made a new folder on my desktop called spore (you can name it whatever) make sure you install it into that folder or else spore files and everything will be all over your desktop and it will be a mess and just reinstalled spore to that and it stopped crashing. or you could right click spore.exe in the spore folder click properties then go to compatability then click windows vista or xp.
Chris Walas: It was Phil Tippett who recruited me up from Los Angeles. We had both worked on a small film, Piranha, in Los Angeles, and Phil needed someone to come up and do molds and rubber running for Dragonslayer. I flew up to meet him and everyone at ILM and I was sold!
Chris Walas: While it was definitely a company feeling and strongly departmentalized, it was still quite loose and free. There was a very open quality about the atmosphere and a real feeling that we were pushing the known limits of special effects, so that made it a unique time to be there.
Chris Walas: I only worked on [Return of the] Jedi and that was as a creature designer. I worked with Joe Johnston, Nilo Rodis-Jamero, Dave Carson, Ken Ralston, and Phil Tippett, among others. I was working on Raiders of the Lost Ark and Dragonslayer at the same time, so it was a bit of a hectic time for me. I was running between shooting stages and then up to the rubber room to do maquettes. Later, I set up the creature shop for Jedi and hired some of the crew.
Chris Walas: The Gremlins had to be the most fun. It was a real free-for-all in terms of what we could try or think of. While it was one of the absolute most difficult and demanding shows I ever did, there was also a little bit of feeling of kids being let loose in a toy store to it. I love puppets and we really got a chance to show what we could do in that film.
