HP M4555 4555 M4345 4345 Paper Does not match letter paper in tray OR does not print incoming faxes.

Some times the M4345 or M4555 units require user to place paper in Multi-Purpose MP tray on the side of the machine even thought normal 500-sheet tray 2 or 3 is full of regular letter paper. This is because the machine did not recognize the correct paper size in the main trays.

Resolution:

ASK THE USER TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE MAIN TRAY 2. ONCE CLOSED THE UNIT DISPLAY WILL SHOW A "TRAY CONFIGURATION" MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY. THE MESSAGE SHOULD SHOW THE DETECTED PAPER TYPE AND SIZE:

'TRAY 2: PLAIN, LETTER"

IF THE MACHINE REPORTS IN THE ABOVE MESSAGE 'UNSPECIFIED' OR 'CUSTOM' SIZE INSTEAD OF LETTER MOST LIKELY THE TRAY LEVER IS NOT SET CORRECTLY.

INSTRUCT THE USER TO OPEN THE TRAY, REMOVE ALL PAPER AND SET THE LEVERS ON BOTH SIDES TO LTR FOR LETTER. FAN THE PAPER AND INSERT ONLY ABOUT 50 PAGES INTO THE TRAY. THE PAPER SHOULD BE TOUCHING THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRAY SNUGLY. 

If the unit is still asking to insert letter paper in Tray1 go ahead and tell the user to do so in order to push the incorrectly routed job trough the machine. Once the job is printer and Tray 2 & 3 are set correctly ask the user to perform a simple copy job with one letter page.

NOTICE THE BLUE LEVER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAY. IT SHOULD BE SET EXACTLY TO LTR
