I know this isn't exactly industry related, but I thought some of you might be interested in the following training program to become a CNA - Certified Nurse Assistant.

2014 Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A) Training Schedule
 
We are excited to announce the dates of our CNA classes for the first half of 2014.  Due to the generosity of our corporate and individual donors, the entire course which includes the California State Certification Exam is FREE. The site for the classes will be as follows:
·        Glendale and Santa Monica start date of February 19, 2014
·        Canoga Park start date of April 16, 2014
·        Torrance start date of June 9, 2014
 
Our training partner is the American Red Cross. This is an intensive 5-week training program that meets Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and will include both classroom and clinical field work.  Upon completion of the C.N.A. Training Program, HealthWorks™ participants will also receive job placement and retention support.
 
Interested applicants must attend our Mandatory Information Meeting (dates will be announced later) and must complete an intake interview. In order to be considered for the program, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:
·        Demonstrate a strong interest in a healthcare career
·        Household income must fall below the poverty guidelines/ receive public assistance
·        Clear criminal background (HW background check and Live Scan)
·        Be in good health (pre-enrollment physical exam required)
·        Achieve required levels on oral English, reading, and basic math assessments
·        Commit to perfect attendance for the duration of the training program
·        Live within 15 miles of the training location (varies throughout LA County)
·        Commit to search for full-time work as a C.N.A. in a facility immediately after passing the State Certification exam
·        Secure and retain a fulltime C.N.A. job for a minimum of 90 days
