Hi Everyone...I wanted to make sure you saw this great opportunity.  As a student of the CRRA Certification Program you are eligible to attend this workshop for only $20!!!! (or $15 if you bring a reusable article of clothing to donate).  I will most likely attend, so if anyone plans to go let's try and carpool!

San Diego – The San Diego Chapter of the California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) and Zero Waste San Diego are hosting the 1st Annual Zero Waste Symposium: Keys to Sustainability, from 9:00 am to 4:30 p.m. on February 4, 2014 in the Campus Center Hearing Room at the County of San Diego Operations Center.

Sponsored by Goodwill, the City of Chula Vista, and the CRRA, The event will feature some 30 presentations by Zero Waste experts from both public and private sectors, including representatives from Goodwill, I Love a Clean San Diego, Surfrider Foundation, the United States Zero Waste Business Council, Whole Foods, Snooze, Solana Recyclers, California Product Stewardship and the cities and counties of San Diego, Chula Vista, Santa Monica and Burbank, among others.

Presentation topics will include Zero Waste principles, extended producer responsibility, source reduction, recycling, reuse and repair methods, composting, plastic bag bans, marine pollution, policy, and compliance with the State of California’s newest recycling legislation, AB 341. “This is sure to be the first event of its kind in San Diego, and will bring together a diverse group of resource managers and Zero Waste experts,” said Rich Flammer, board member of Zero Waste San Diego. “Attendees will learn core principles of Zero Waste and hear lots of case studies from those who are actually implementing them on a day-to-day basis.”

Fee for attendance is $50 and includes lunch. Discounted admissions will be given to CRRA members ($40), students, graduates of the CRRA’s Certification Program and representatives of non-profit organizations ($20), and students who bring an article of clothing to donate to Goodwill ($15).
