Colleagues,

Attached is the flyer for this year's African Intellectual Thought Symposium, annually hosted by the Fresno State Africana Studies Program and organized by Dr. Malik Simba, Professor Emeritus of History and Africana Studies. This year the topic is Philosophy and History. Thursday April 16th 2pm-4pm Henry Madden Library 3212. I am passing it along to more philosophers. Dr. Simba writes:

If biography is the locomotion or the dialectics of history, then the new book, African American Philosophers and Philosophy by Drs. McClendon and Ferguson certainly confirms this supposition. The famous individuals pictured on the flyer are three of many the authors discussed and critiqued in their new work.  UC-Merced professor Dr. Nigel Hatton has agreed to share his insights and Fresno States' philosopher, Dr. Carolyn Cusick has come on board as the moderator. Drs. McClendon, Ferguson, and Hatton consider themselves "public scholarly intellectuals" and now your students and other faculty have a chance to listen to this new intellectual development within the "Academy." Therefore, I hope you can urge, prod, and give extra-credit goodies to your students to attend this ongoing event in its 14th year.
