Hi all,
My name is Margaret Freel, and I am a clinical LVN Educator in a  well established California College.

I have been recently "nominated " to be the  Student Body Council, faculty advisor for the Nursing department.
This is a very dynamic and exciting time for our college as we continute to strive for Professional practice.

My questions are the following:-

Do you have a student body council at your college?

If the answer is yes, then how can we network or assist  each other in common issues?

Is there a California State Student Body Alliance for adult learners ??

In my research, there are Student Body assocciations but they are for high schools or Universities.

I eagerly look forward to any  suggestions or links.

Sincerely
Margaret Freel R.N.

Hello Margaret,

Congratulations on your new position.

This is Marie Fagan, from Annenberg School of Nursing.  We are practically neighbors.  How are you?

We do have a student body council here.  I am opening to any suggestions you or anyone might have.  I am not aware of any California State Student Body alliance for adult learners.

Take care,

Marie

I am the Director of a Vocational Nurse Program.  We have no student body council.  We are seeking accreditation
And will need to get student involvement some way!  The accreditation is through TRACS which is Catholic religious centered in education!

We have no alliance with CA state for students!   My understanding is that this is for state schools only!!

Let me know if you need anymore info!  You can reach me through the same email.  Good luck!!  Also can you send the results when you get them for it will help with our accreditation.

I have on been involved as an advisor
To RN-BRN program.

I will ask around as well. The National Student Nurse group is RN.

Maybe we need to get a committee together and set one up with policies standardized that would work for the VN schools according with accrediting standards.

I would be happy to help.

Actually, the NSNA association includes VN and pre-nursing students. The membership application has specific designations for each group. We also send RN and VN students to the state conference each year. On our campus, the NSNA chapter has to be registered as a club, therefore they can access all of the benefits of a club and can participate in the Student Government Association.

Maybe having the applications and a description for next meeting would get everyone on board. Those who are using it could give all a little 5 min "how to get students involved and what are the perks". Also how it is I refrained with their community.

I think we could pass it thru our consortiums as well.

Sounds good.
