Hi,

I want to send out a user survey ASAP; today if possible.

I've put some thoughts on the wiki:
http://code.google.com/p/constituencyvolunteernetwork/wiki/SurveyIdeas

Any other ideas?

Good questions - I've added some more and some tweaks to the comments.

I'm a bit close to the trees on this one though. Really it would be
good to get feedback from someone further away from the project :)

Cheers,
Edmund.

Thanks. I've combined a few of these ideas together into a Google
Forms version:

Any improvements, suggestions?

Thanks!

No, that's why I want feedback!

It's my attempt at a final version.

Some of those questions are pretty personal (date of birth, postcode,
party voted for).

I'd suggest batching them all together under a 'purely optional'
heading and putting them towards the end of the survey. Wouldn't want
those questions to put people off.

Even better would be to have the survey in two parts - first page
submitted does all the generic stuff. Second page the optional
personal details. That way we'd at least capture some information even
before they see the personal questions. I don't think that the Google
forms support that though.

Cheers,
Edmund.

Agree - looking through ordering issues are probably the only problem
with it. I'd probably put the question about the other surveys further
up, but other than that, it's pretty good.

We should also do a survey of DC users, I've just finished exams
(*hic*), so will start thinking about that in the next few days.

There's a blank line on 'How did you find out?'
Didn't use option on 'Please rate other tools' useful.
Is 'completely anonymous' accurate given you're asking for info that,
given other databases, gives a very good probability of a unique match
(age / postcode) and is shared with Google (in theory).
Use of survey for both Election Quiz and Meta-Election Quiz is
confusing. Change it.
Binary answers for the quiz are a bit restrictive: consider 0-10 scales?
Order is a bit wierd: I'd suggest something broadly like:

==Demographics==
How old are you?
What is your gender?
What is your postcode?

==Actual Voting==
How did you vote in this election?
Have you voted previously?
Could you describe the issues that were important in deciding how to vote?

==Quiz==

How much would you agree with the following statements? [0-10]
The election quiz was useful in deciding how to vote.
I changed your mind about how to vote due to the quiz.
The quiz stimulated my interest in the election.
The quiz was easy to use.
Having local issues in the quiz was useful.

Tell us about your experience with the quiz: for example, how it might
have stimulated your interest or was useful in deciding how to vote.

Which did you find more useful, the candidate's position on an issue,
or their comment on it?

Many candidates wanted more space to expand on their answers. Would
you have liked to see more detailed feedback from them about each
issue?

How could we make the quiz better next time?
How did you find out about the quiz?
Did you recommend the quiz to your friends?
Which other online election tools did you use?
Any other comments, suggestions?
