This morning my handsome 8 yo rooster hopped out of the coop, crowed as usual. When I went to give them their treats 2 hours later he was dead lying by a bale of straw .This was inside a secure fence-no marks or anything. The girls seem lost without him! He was such a good boy! Any ideas of what might have happened.

As an 8 yr old it may well have been his time.
