Today we sent home a memo regarding our inclement weather plans for
the days prior to the Winter Break. We also emailed that memo to our
students and recent graduates. While I apologize for the length of
this message, in the spirit of clear communication the entire memo is
below. As always, we sincerely thank you for your support of CVGS.

Dear CVGS Families,

This note is to inform you of our plans should we have inclement
weather prior to our Winter Break. As you may recall, our last school
day before the break is Wednesday, December 22, 2010. In addition,
Tuesday, December 21 and Wednesday, December 22, are scheduled for
fall semester exams.

As always, CVGS follows the Lynchburg City Schools’ weather delays and
closings. All our families should now be receiving weather calls from
Mrs. Leigh Farmer, Public Information Officer for the Lynchburg City
Schools. If your family is not receiving these calls, please call us
at 582-1104 so we can rectify that situation.

Also, in keeping with established practice, if a student’s school
division is delayed or closed and CVGS is not, the parent or guardian
is to determine if or when the student should report to CVGS.

Finally, here are our plans to address inclement weather in the next
few days.

If CVGS is delayed or closed on Thursday, December 16, no changes will
be made to other days or events.

If CVGS is delayed or closed on Friday, December 17, the Graduate Open
House scheduled on Friday from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. will be
canceled. Graduates are welcome to come by and visit us informally at
any time.

CVGS is currently scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. until 12 noon on
Saturday, December 18. In addition, our annual Egg Drop Event is
scheduled to occur on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. If
weather conditions for Saturday appear hazardous, Dr. Smith will call
families by 8 p.m. on Friday to cancel the event. We will reschedule
the event in 2011. If you do not receive a call by 8 p.m. Friday,
CVGS will be open on Saturday, and the Egg Drop will occur. However,
parents should still evaluate their own road conditions to determine
whether or not their students should report.

If CVGS is delayed or closed on Monday, December 20, no changes will
be made to other days or events.

If CVGS is delayed or closed on Tuesday, December 21, the science
exams scheduled for that day will occur on Wednesday, December 22.
The math exams for Wednesday, December 22 will be handled in some
other manner to be communicated by a phone call on Wednesday, December
22.

If CVGS is delayed or closed on Wednesday, December 22, the math exams
for Wednesday, December 22 will be handled in some other manner to be
communicated by a phone call on Wednesday, December 22.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this communication,
please feel free to email Dr. Stephen Smith at ssm...@cvgs.k12.va.us
or call us at 434-582-1104.

With thanks for your continuing support of CVGS,

Stephen C. Smith, Ed.D.
Director
