Hello Folks!

Greetings from the Computer Vision and Intelligence Group, CFI!

Now that you are ready with a basic understanding of how to use Python, it's time to get into the nitty-gritty of Computer Vision. Our next session will delve into the basic concepts of Computer Vision using OpenCV.

Make sure to bring your laptops, fully charged, with OpenCV installed to the session!

Installation Procedures are given below.

Installation Procedure in Windows:

1. First download and install PyCharm.
2. Install OpenCV by following the instructions here

or 

1. Download and install Anaconda 2.0.1 windows from this
2. Download OpenCV 2.4.9 python installer from this
3. Run the OpenCV installer and extract to a convenient location
4. Go to opencv/build/python/2.7 folder.
5. cv2.pyd should be copied to your Anaconda install dir/Python/Lib/site-packages
6. Open IPython QT console under Anaconda in the start menu.
7. type the following in the console: import cv2

If you don't get any errors, then success! you've installed OpenCV for Python!

Installation Procedure in Linux:

1. Download the opencv.sh file attached and save it in the directory you want to install OpenCV library. This is to install OpenCV 2.4.9.
2. You can change to future versions by changing the <wget> link.
3. Open terminal and then execute the following commands.
$ sudo chmod +x opencv.sh
$ ./opencv.sh
4. Invoking sudo will prompt you to enter your password, enter it and the go ahead.
5. After that, install ipython ( even though linux comes with python, better to use ipython ) using the following commands.
$ sudo apt-get install ipython
$ sudo apt-get install ipython-qtconsole
