We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking people for building a Mars rover and representing IIT Madras at the University Rover Challenge conducted by Mars Society every year. URC is a very competitive platform for showcasing innovation and awesomeness of the institute. This is a call for expanding the electronics team.
We will be having a introduction session for the Electronics and Software sub-module for Team Anveshak, the team representing IIT Madras at the University Rover Challenge, conducted by Mars Society. Interested people can turn up for the session. Spread the word and bring other interested people along with you.

We plan to take in 4-5 members. Sophomores or older are encouraged to apply here.
• Elec - Communications ( Video + Control )
Includes long distance communication (about 1 km) protocols and interfacing. Also deals with transmission of live video stream from multiple cameras on the rover.
• Elec - Mechatronics - Arm + Gripper Control + Digger
Interfacing mechanical modules with electronics. Implementing inverse kinematics algorithms for positioning the arm, controlling the gripper and digger mechanisms.
• Elec - Main controller board
Building a computer on the rover, installing necessary software and interfacing it with the network for remote access.
• Elec - Power & Distribution
Designing a power distribution board for different modules and a simple battery management system for the rover including protection circuits.
• Elec - Motor Control and Locomotion
Designing motor controller and interfacing speed control with microcontroller and designing the locomotion system for the rover.
• Software - Interface with Elec module and for control/feedback
Integrating all controls onto a GUI and displaying visual feedback as well as sensor data like GPS position and other logged data.
