Dear Incredible Vessels:
I can refer to you in that way because God’s word says we are His
workmanship (Ephesians 2:10).
Several months ago, The Rock of Escape started moving forward to
accomplish a task of providing summer programming for youth who lived
in The Villages at Carver, Ashley Cascade, and Capitol Gateway
apartments.
It was a challenge for us because we had never done this before. My
personal question was how can I be in three sites at one time?
God’s quick reply was that only He can do that.
So, I then started using the expression: Creating Something
Incredible… because when we give God back the vision He gives us He
lets us participate in an incredible way.
That is what He did with the City Gates: Guarding A Generation Summer
Youth Challenge & Expo 2010.
We were challenged with obstacles from beginning to the end… But we
saw each obstacle as an indication that the favor of God was with us.
I have seen smiling youth, brilliant youth, hurting youth, courageous
youth… I have seen growing youth ready to live. I have seen emotional
and social victories… I have come to understand the need to shake some
of our youth out of comfort and complacency if they are to take
initiative. I have also heard the heartfelt appreciation spoken by
many youth workers and campers. And yes I am still praying for those
whose choices and attitudes limit their progress.
Over the next few pages journey with me in prayer for all the young
people involved. God is in the process of revealing the tremendous
potential in all of them.
Ask God to pour out a spirit of worship unto Him in this youth
generation… only then will their potential reach its pinnacle.
