Thank you to everyone who part * Biking and Walking Plans for Decatur.
* * *Learn about the Decatur Transportation Plan and how it includes
plans for making bicycling and walking more viable as modes of
transportation. The plan, which was approved by the City of Decatur in
the Fall of 2008, provides plans to make it easier to walk and bike.
Don't miss Fred Boykin, Decatur City Councilman and owner of Bicycle
South , who will discuss these exciting plans. The meeting is at the
Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 2089 Ponce de Leon Ave. (As you are
going east toward Decatur on Ponce de Leon Ave, turn right onto US 278
- East Lake Drive - and turn into the first driveway on the left -
maybe 20 feet after the turn. There is a brick column beside it).
Note: Refreshments at 7 pm; Meeting program begins 7:30 pm. ADOPT A
STREAM BIOLOGIC MONITORING. Saturday, Nov 7 10AM. Help us find the
macroinvertebrates - (large bugs, nymphs, and worms) - that live in
the water. The site is on South Fork of Peachtree Creek in Medlock Park
on the east side of the park [but you can't get there from the street
address for the park]. From the intersection of Willivee Road and
Scott Circle (it is a T intersection) go about 1/4 mile on Scott
Circle to the parking lot on the left (lots of baseball fields). At
the end of the parking lot closest to Willivee Road there is a paved
path where the Sierra Club sign will be. Follow the path to the wooden
bridge. Just before the bridge is a dirt path leading off to the right
(do not get onto the bridge). Follow the dirt path a few hundred
yards.
We will be at a sandy beach that is the first big opening through the
trees to the stream. cgs_citysvcs_dev_transportationplan Source:

How do you get around Decatur?
The City of Decatur is committed to becoming an "active living
community," where our sidewalks and streets are designed to encourage
walking and biking. What is Active Living? And how does that work with
a community transportation plan? Find out more in the brochure below.
