CUWIN is an organization that is part of a student coalition that
promotes and supports academic excellence in four areas HEAT-
(Health, Education, Arts/Science, and Technology) through community
service projects. Volunteers are needed. Hours are flexible. We serve
grassroots, community, and faith based organization. By serving as
liaisons between academic institutions and nonprofits, we are able to
give back to the community.

MONTH
Foundation Event Will Honor Preserving African-American Legislative
History
WASHINGTON - The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, (CBCF) will
host its second annual Avoice Heritage Celebration and Awards evening
from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., on February 8, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency
Washington, 400 New Jersey Avenue, NW.
The dinner and awards program will honor an individual for their work
in preserving African-American legislative history and a former
Congressional Black Caucus member for strides made in preserving and
archiving their papers. A corporation will also be honored for its
commitment to cultivating minority civic engagement, public discourse
on African-American history, or the preservation of important
historic
artifacts through philanthropic or programmatic support.
The intimate evening will also serve as a fundraiser for Avoice:
African-American Voices In Congress (Avoice) www.avoiceonline.org.
Avoice is a virtual online library that is a premier source of
information about historical and contemporary African-American policy
issues important to researchers, academics, educators and
students.Created in 2006 by the Foundation, Avoice's seven digital-
archive exhibits focus on the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Bill,
Origins of the CBC, the Voting Rights Act, the Anti-Apartheid
Movement, the Women of the CBC, Environmental Justice and Education
