I can recall living in Western Northern Nevada...working @ Computer
Corps on that famous Americorps project. Re-Entry Program where we
work with the prison system to reunite Families with Prisoners of
Nevada state prison. We taught them a skill of rebuilding computers
both Macs and IBM compatible computers. Ron Norton and William
( Bill) C. were my bosses. I was the Program Director of the project.
It was a joint venture with Corporation for National Service cns.gov.
This was the 1st time for me that I felt like a Queen in the West. I
had the assistant of both Federal and State Government in bridging
communication to revitalize systems that somewhat often times goes
overlooked. While I worked there, I also worked as a Secret Shopper of
two companies Certified Marketing and Theatrical Entertainment. I was
paid to shop. I really got paid. I also volunteered at the Museum
where I was a docent for the Nevada State Museum. We went on field
trips student the different cultures. (Washoe County) Well you know,
there was gambling everywhere 24/7 so I could not resist the
temptation so because my numbering system is not good. I observed the
Card Dealers; dealing cards. During my observation of the State of
Nevada, which is called the "Mississippi of the West". I found a new
friend, a good friend and they were a different races. This open my
eyes to see that I could live the King Dream without fear of being
Hanged or Lynched. That is why I loved the West that still treat me
Best.

10,000 Metro Area Children
To members of United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta

United Way has joined Publix Super Markets, STAR 94 FM, V103, KICKS
101.5 and the AJC to collect "School Tools for Cool Kids" this
summer;
giving thousands of underprivileged and homeless children in metro
Atlanta the chance to start school with the supplies they need. The
supplies are given to homeless youth that show up to school without
the needed materials to start school ready to learn. Last year in the
greater Atlanta area we served more than 10,000 homeless children!
Help kids start off this school year with the tools they need to
succeed by purchasing supplies at your neighborhood Publix July 16
through August 2 and then depositing them in the store’s collection
bin. Volunteers are much needed during August 3 through August 7 to
help sort and distribute the collected supplies.
