Hi All,

it's been a while; just checking in and see if there are any new
design project and product ideas. It'd be great to explore and i can
contribute ideas and help out with product development.

Btw, do you follow the latest activities or design on elephant
design? just see if there are any new interesting idea? it's a
little bit hard as the website is still in Japanese.

Peg, I remember you mentioned you know the creator for catdogforever,
may I ask you a couple of questions?

Thanks.

catdogforever is pretty cute!!

Hey all,

Once again, sorry for the lack of news. Recently everyone has been
busy with our products exhibition going on at the Tokyo Electric
Company - TEPCO's Ginza showroom. You can find more info here:
http://cuusoo.com/magazine/trading2010/event/

So, this Saturday, I'll be giving a talk about CUUSOO... the talk will
be in English and it'll be recorded and put on Youtube later so that
English speaking people can find out about CUUSOO. Besides talking
about its history, I'll talk about the future plans - we'll be working
closely with the Danish Government's User Innovation project, Japanese
Government's "Japanese Industrial Design Promotion Organization",
LEGO, TEDxTokyo, Startup Weekend Tokyo, Tokyo Hackerspace... and
anyone who is passionate about CUUSOO's vision and want to help, to
build the next generation, open source CUUSOO platform!

I've created a plancast http://plancast.com/a/1zn2 and facebook
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=111158325565516 event for this,
so if any of you have friends in Tokyo who may be interested, please
let them know. I'll most likely do a ustream at the event so if any
of you are interested you can watch it live too. Otherwise, it'll be
on Youtube later on.

Cheers,
-Nick

I was going to this page plancast.com/a/1zn2and just to know more about the talk, but the page could not be found.
Please let us know once you have uploaded the talk onto youtube.

Thanks

Sorry, the talk was recorded (but also cut off near the end as our staff wasn't looking at the tape and the camera was set to pause recording in 30 mins!)  :(

I need to do some editing to make it shorter and also the other speaker from TEDxTokyo also wants to see it first before posting it online... so I guess it's actually gonna be a while before it can be posted. :(  Sorry.

The good news is, I've started a weekly meetup to build the next Cuusoo platform - it'll be called "Open Hippel" and it's open sourced - http://groups.drupal.org/node/59918

So, I encourage anyone who's interested to join us online!  The first meeting we had problem w/ audio, I'll see what I can do to improve that.

Cheers,
- Nick

Hi Nick,

Is this the project you talked about earlier? I'm ready to help by doing the design and art work :)

Peggy,

Actually, no one in the Open Hippel group is a web designer, so if you
can join us and create some designs, that would really help us.

This week's info update, we're doing UX Design exercises:

Hi Nick,

That's cool :) Can you make a list of specific things you/ people you're working together want in the Interface? Info on the following points will help a bunch for me:

1. Information hierarchy or a site map. I'll need to know how many pages the website includes and how to categorize them. You may give me the main structure first (at least the biggest few categories for the site) if you're not sure what you'll have.

2. The design style your team prefer (formal? contemporary? stylish? clean? business-like? retro? cute, etc?). It would be ideal if you can give me a few samples of websites that you would love the outcome to be like. If not, I'll give you a style board/ some websites that have the feeling I want.

3. Do you have a specific color that I need to stick to? (like match with the logo or have to match with CUUSOO to give people a sense of consistency/ they belong together?)

4. Would you want it to be in plain HTML (with CSS) or in Flash, or Flash + HTML? As most of the time in the past I just design the interface and programmers will help me do the rest, I'll try my best to do the most from my part. Knowing these will help me design the interfaces better, as different types need different needs :)

5. Some existing info/ dummy texts for me to put in the design (I'll have to know how many texts will approximately be putting in each page). If not a lot, the design may be different from a page that needs to put tons of words in it.

I guess I can come up with some sketches and color schemes for you once I have these info. :) If I have too little info on what you guys want, I'm afraid we'll need to modify again and again and that'll be a waste of time and resources. Hope that you can understand. :) So no need to hurry the info for me, and it would be nice if your team can sit down and discuss on this issue before things start. :)

Thanks,
Peggy
