I've been using Custom Maps for cycling and hiking for many years and I'm always thrilled when I find my way to my destination without any problems.
But I've always had problems with the default display arrow. Depending on the map material, the arrow can be relatively difficult to see. This is not a problem when hiking. When cycling, however, it is often only possible to take a quick look, since a closer look is dangerous depending on the speed.
That's why I've been using the Custom Maps app with my own colors for the arrow display for years. See the attached PNG files.
The Custom Maps app I modified in this way was installed on the smartphone in addition to the original app and was only used for navigation. It could no longer reference and could not be updated.
I used the original app to reference the maps.
This all worked with my old Samsung S7 and Android 8.
Now I have a Samsung S20 and Android 12 - and so the installation of my old Custom Maps version (with my display arrow) is no longer possible. The newer versions of Custom Maps are compiled and it is far beyond my ability to modify these versions.
I could now ask you to change the arrow in your app in general - but you certainly have reasons for the existing design. So I turn to you with a question:
Would you be willing to make a "second version" of Custom Maps with my indicator arrows. This version should have a different name. It does not have to be suitable for referencing and should also not be updateable. Then I could continue to act as described above.
Of course I'm willing to pay you for this work; please let me know how much work you have to do and a bank account, for example PayPal.
If it is not possible to change the app, I would like to thank you for your excellent work so far. As far as I know, there is no better program for individual route planning.
